Tharayil is an old business family of the south Malabar region of Kerala.

Most of its members in the early 1900's have been fully engaged in the trade of Hill produce, like black pepper, Coffee, Cardamom, Arecanut, Rubber etc.

In 1920 one of our forefathers, diversified from the family line of business and took to textile retailing and slowly forayed into textile wholesale trade too.

This was at a time when fashionable clothes were only worn by nobles and eminent personnel of the society. There were not many trade establishments established in the locality.
